Nibe Limited Enters Defence-Space Sector with India’s First Multi-Sensor
Satellite Constellation
Date: 8th September 2024
Location: The Leela, Mumbai
In a major step towards strengthening India’s defence-space capabilities, Nibe Limited
announced the launch of Nibe Space Pvt. Ltd. (NSPL), its dedicated space subsidiary. The
company unveiled its ambitious plan to develop India’s first multi-sensor, all-weather Earth
Observation Satellite Constellation, designed to provide high-resolution imagery and strategic
intelligence to support defence, homeland security, and commercial applications.
At the launch event, NSPL signed strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with
leading Indian and global partners, including L&T, CENTUM, AgniKul, Skyroot, and Thales
Alenia Space, to collaborate on advanced satellite technologies, manufacturing, and launch
capabilities. With this initiative, Nibe Space aims to deploy a constellation of 40 satellites
over the next five to six years, significantly enhancing India’s access to real-time geospatial
intelligence and reducing dependency on foreign satellite data.
The event saw the presence of key dignitaries, including representatives from DRDO, NSE, and
the Government of Maharashtra, who acknowledged the critical role of private sector
participation in building India’s self-reliance in the space and defence sectors. With committed
funding and a strong focus on R&D, NSPL is positioned to be a key player in India's
evolving space-tech ecosystem.
This move aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and reinforces Nibe Limited’s
commitment to pioneering indigenous defence and space solutions. By integrating
cutting-edge technology with strategic partnerships, NSPL is set to revolutionise India’s
space-based surveillance and intelligence capabilities, ensuring a more secure and
self-sufficient future for the nation.
